For ryokans: reach travelers who are already comparing you

Japan Ryokan Guide is an independent guide to 621 ryokans in 37 onsen areas, in seven languages. Readers choose a ryokan, then leave for the booking page they prefer. We do not take bookings, payments, changes or cancellations.

The partnership

• JPY 7,000 per completed stay (tax excluded; initial proposal, agreed in writing)
• You record a referral code at booking; we reconcile a monthly CSV (booking ID, code, booked date, stay date, status)
• Cancellations and no-shows are not charged
• Monthly invoice, payment within 20 days
• Editorial ranking is independent of payment; a paid booking link is labelled to readers
• Three-month initial term, then one month’s notice

How it works

1. Email us with your official booking page and the code you can record
2. We confirm the facility match, code field and CSV format
3. We add the direct-booking option beside the existing OTA links
4. We reconcile monthly from your ledger and invoice completed stays

What we do not do

• Take bookings, payments, changes or cancellations
• Guarantee bookings or a ranking position
• Receive guest names, emails or phone numbers
• Ask you to stop selling through OTAs

Questions

What if there are no bookings?

You pay nothing. We still confirm the monthly “0 eligible bookings” with one email.

How is a booking attributed?

Only bookings where the guest gives the code at booking, and which are recorded in your ledger. A booking without the code is outside the programme.

Can we keep our OTA listings?

Yes. The direct option sits beside them; you choose what to offer.

What data do you need?

A referral ID (not the guest’s name), code, booked date, stay date and status. We agree the sharing method, access and retention before starting.
