Mikawaya sits about as close to Sensoji as a ryokan can — two minutes from Asakusa Station, next to the Nakamise approach, with Hozomon a couple of hundred metres away. Rooms come in three shapes: a twelve-mat tatami room, a six-mat tatami room, and a Western twin, and some look out towards Tokyo Skytree. Breakfast is served in a small dining room. It is a modest, family-run house rather than a design hotel, which is the reason to stay: this is what an Asakusa inn has looked like for a long time.
