About

HOSHINOYA Fuji is a luxury glamping resort, not a traditional ryokan 窶 no kaiseki in the classic sense, no tatami floor, no onsen. What there is: one of the most photogenic Fuji frames in Japan, delivered from a private cedar cabin elevated into the forested slope above Lake Kawaguchi. The 40 treetop cabins all have floor-to-ceiling windows facing Mt. Fuji 窶 the mountain fills the glass regardless of where you sit. Opened October 2015 by Hoshino Resorts as Japan's first luxury glamping property, the design is sui generis: archery, forest walks, s'mores fire pits, dawn canoe outings as on-site activities. Each cabin has a cedar soaking tub but there is no gensen onsen and no public bath. Active notice: the main dining area is closed May 6 窶 August 7, 2026; in-room dining is available throughout [verified hoshinoresorts.com 2026-05-25]. Lake Kawaguchi is a 20-minute walk down the slope. For couples who care more about design and atmosphere than about soaking in mineral water, this is the pick. If onsen is the priority, choose Kozantei Ubuya or Kawaguchiko Fufu instead. Pricing is per cabin (not per person): ツ・65,000窶督・150,000+ / $436窶$1,000+. English booking via Trip.com, Booking.com, and Expedia [verified en.json article PR #85].
