What should I wear at the ryokan?

Upon arrival, you'll be provided with a yukata (light cotton robe) and a pair of slippers. You can wear the yukata throughout the ryokan — to dinner, to the onsen, and even for a stroll in the neighborhood. Indoor slippers should be removed before stepping on tatami mats.

Is English spoken at Ryokan Matsumoto?

Ryokan Matsumoto has limited English support. We recommend using a translation app or asking your hotel concierge to help with any pre-arrival communication. The staff is very welcoming and will do their best to assist.

Can guests with tattoos use the baths?

Matsumoto sits in the centre of Ginzan's gaslit street with ten rooms, tatami-floored and laid with futon, several with small balconies over the river. Dinner is kaiseki served in the room or a private dining room, and the bath is a wooden tub fed straight from the source. The inn runs a shuttle from JR Oishida Station. Rates start at ¥35,200 for two people with two meals — about ¥17,600 each. Its 7.8 rests on only six reviews, so treat the score as thin rather than settled.
