About

Bentenkaku is in Nakayamadaira, the southernmost of Naruko's five spring districts and home to Japan's most alkaline natural spring water — known locally as "unagi-yu" (eel water) for its smooth slick texture on the skin. The pH (~9-9.5) is unusually high; bathers feel the water like a body lotion. Around 25 rooms; the property is adjacent to Kurikoma Quasi-National Park trailheads. Kaiseki uses local mountain ingredients.
