Gunjo no Tsuki

Gunjo no Tsuki (meaning "moon of ultramarine blue") is a design-forward boutique ryokan that reimagines the Kanazawa machiya townhouse for the modern traveler. The property features a beautiful Japanese garden that changes character with the seasons, visible from the common areas and select rooms. Each guest room combines traditional tatami floors and shoji screens with sleek contemporary furnishings and modern bathrooms. The kaiseki dinner draws from Kanazawa's rich culinary heritage, with an emphasis on seasonal seafood from the Sea of Japan coast and locally foraged mountain vegetables.
